Genus Trapezia

Latreille, 1825

Carapace trapezoidal in outline. Posterior margin notably shorter than the front. Frontal margin sinuous, divided into four lobes or teeth with a rounded apex and separated by a conspicuous antennal furrow from the supero-internal orbital angle that is rounded. Basal antennal article straight and situated outside the orbital hiatus that is closed. The two chelipeds subequal or slightly unequal, but generally of the same form; anterior margin of the merus dentate. Ambulatory legs not noticeably short nor stout; merus of P4 with its length equal or greater than twice the width. Male abdomen with segments 3-5 fused. Commensal crabs associated with corals.
