Genus Thalamita

Latreille, 1829

Carapace roughly hexagonal, much broader than long (CB/CL about. 1.5); epibranchial ridges present, also a number of gastric ridges in front of these; antero-lateral borders with usually 5 teeth, in some cases an additional tiny subsidiary tooth at base of first, fourth usually very small. Basal antennal joint broadly contacting inner orbital tooth and excluding flagellum from orbit (clearly visible only in adult specimens). All segments of swimming leg flattened, merus with strong spine on posterior border. (Türkay 1995)

5 antero-lateral teeth, if 6 second antero-lateral tooth minute; tips of chelipeds pointed; chelipeds of normal length, arm shorter than breadth of carapace. (Davie 1999)
