Carapace usually longer than broad and convex from side to side. Rostrum present or frontal margin toothed, dentate, bilobate or entire. Antennae folded longitudinally. Antennal flagellum usually long and setaceous.
Epistome rudimentary, or very short and sunk, concealed by third maxilliped, its merus usually elongate (Dai & Yang, 1991 as subsection).
