Carapace subcircular. Antero-lateral and postero-lateral margins of carapace lined with dense, long setae forming a distinct fringe. Antero-lateral margins very long, entire or feebly denticulate. Front entire, without teeth or lobes. Orbits very small, complete. Antennular fossae longer than broad; antennules fold longitudinally. Antennal flagellum rather short, distinctly setose. Epistome narrow, not well defined anteriorly. Chelipeds short, with a stout chela. Ambulatory legs laterally compressed; dactylus long, styliform, except for P5 that is lanceolate. Thoracic sternum very narrow and elongate, with all the sutures complete and parallel. Female openings sternal. Male openings coxal. (Guinot 1998)
