Carapace suboval to pentagonal. Dorsal surface with some regions indistinct. Antero-lateral margins usually with well developed teeth. Frontal regions with well developed teeth. Antennules fold normally lengthwise, within their cavity. Movable part of the antennae well developed. Buccal frame elongate. Carpus of third maxillipeds articulating at inner dorsal margin of merus. Chelipeds unequal in males. Walking legs strong, ending in stout, styliform dactyli. Male openings coxal. Female openings sternal (vulvae). (Guinot 1998)
