Carapace much longer than broad, oval. Antero-lateral and postero-lateral margins of carapace with relative dense setae but not forming a distinct fringe. Front with two or three teeth or lobes. Orbits complete. Antennules fold longitudinally. Antennae very long, longer than carapace, with their flagellum strongly setose, and forming a breathing tube of interlocking setae. Epistome not delineated. Buccal frame elongate and square cut. Chelipeds showing a strong sexual dimorphism. Thoracic sternum narrow and elongate, with the sutures complete and parallel. Female openings sternal. Male openings coxal. (Guinot 1998)
