Carapace broadened anteriorly by the outstanding, often tubular, orbits. Rostrum more or less deflexed. Basal antennal article expanded to form a floor to the orbit. Orbit formed by an arched supraocular hood or semitubular horn, by a hollowed postocular process, and by a broadening or prolongation of the basal antennal article, affording complete concealment to the retracted eye. Intercalated spine absent or present. (Guinot 1998)
