Carapace almost hemispherical, subglobose and without lateral expansions. Dorsal surface only slightly uneven. Anterior boundary of pterygostomial region not ending in the circular depression behind the orbit or inconspicuous. Epistome mostly reduced. Third maxillipeds with the merus half or more than half the length of ischium measured along the inner border. Chelipeds often elongate. (Guinot 1998)
