Genus Glabropilumnus

Balss, 1932

Carapace transversely ovate. Dorsal surface moderately convex, with the regions poorly marked, nearly glabrous. Antero-lateral margins arched, armed with three denticles. Front divided into two arched lobes. Orbits too shallow to conceal eye. Eyes with globose stalks; cornea large. Antennules folding transversely into the fossae. Basal antennal article not reaching the front. Anterior margin of buccal cavern sinuous. Chelipeds subequal in both sexes, massive. Propodus of larger chela wide, its upper and lower margins smooth. Ambulatory legs long and slender, setose; dactylus slender, subcylindrical. G1 sinuous, distally curved, pilumnid. G2 sigmoid. (Guinot 1998)

Carapace smooth, and rather convex in both directions; dorsal surface entirely glabrous without hairs, or only frontal region with hairs. Each frontal lobe truncated and bears no lateral lobule, being separated from supraorbital angle by a small interruption. Antero-lateral border with three small teeth; those teeth usually low and subtruncated. Chelipeds very unequal, and larger palm smooth and naked. Male abdomen seven-jointed, and first male pleopod somewhat Pilumnus-type. (Takeda & Miyake, 1969)
