Genus Thalamitoides

Carapace transversely broadened, much broader than long (CB/CL near to 2); epibranchial ridges present, also a number of gastric ridges in front of these, cardiac ridges present; front quadrilobate with median lobes much broader than laterals; antero-lateral borders strikingly convergent, with 3 or 4 teeth Basal antennal joint broadly contacting inner orbital tooth and excluding flagellum from orbit (clearly visible only in adult specimens). Cheliped fingers with spoon-shaped tips. All segments of swimming leg flattened, merus with strong spine on posterior border. (Türkay 1995)

Carapace very broad, 3-4 antero-lateral teeth; tips of chelipeds spoon-shaped; spines on hands of chelipeds extremely well developed. (Davie 1999)
