Carapace much broader than long (CB/CL about 1.85); epibranchial crests interrupted medially, but in median part small crests are still extant; antero-lateral borders with 4 teeth, decreasing in size fore to aft. Basal antennal joint with a low granulate crest occupying its whole length. Cheliped merus granulate on posterior border, anterior border armed with 3 spines; carpus with 5 small and acute spines on external border; upper face of palm with 4 spines on anterior and 3 on posterior borders. Male first pleopod short, stout, gently curved, bearing distally on inner surface 2 rounded membranous lobes; subterminal armature on outer side a regular double row of elongate, closely spaced bristles merging into a distal clump of small to large bristles. Carapace very broad, 4 antero-lateral teeth; tips of chelipeds spoon-shaped; spines on hands of chelipeds extremely well developed. (Davie 1999)
