Thalamitoides tridens

A. Milne Edwards, 1869

Carapace much broader than long (CB/CL about 2.1); epibranchial crests broadly interrupted medially; antero-lateral borders with 3 teeth, decreasing in size fore to aft. Basal antennal joint with a short granulate crest occupying about 2/5 of its length. Cheliped merus smooth on posterior border, anterior border armed with 4 spines; carpus with 3 small and acute spines on external border; upper face of palm with 3 spines on anterior and 4 on posterior borders. Male first pleopod short, stout, gently curved, with swollen and truncate tip; subterminal armature on outer side consists of a scattered row of elongate bristles followed distally by a tightly packed clump of medium-sized long bristles. Carapace very broad, 3 antero-lateral teeth; tips of chelipeds spoon-shaped; spines on hands of chelipeds extremely well developed. (Davie 1999)

Milne Edwards, 1869), Toliara (Crosnier, 1962); Mauritius (Stephenson, 1972a); Japan - Ishigaki-jima and Taketomi-jima (Sakai, 1976a); China - Paracel Islands (Chen H., 1980b, Dai & Yang, 1991); Philippines; Guam; Palau (Takeda & Shimazaki, 1974); Indonesia - Kera near Timor, Biak Island and Supiori Island (Stephenson, 1975), Ambon; Australia - Queensland; Fiji; Samoa; Johnston Island; Hawaiian Islands; shallow waters.
