H. Milne Edwards, 1853
Carapace very little broader than long. Dorsal surface slightly convex, very smooth. Lateral margins thin and sharp. Subhepatic and pterygostomial regions smooth. The declivous postero-lateral portion of the branchial region setting off from the rest of that region by a line more or less distinctly marked. Antero-lateral margins arched, with two distinct notches, forming one truncate external orbital angle and two epibranchial lobes. Front moderately or little deflexed, sometimes sublaminar. Orbits small, of good depth; presence of a suborbital crest, rather distant from the orbit and usually running in a line with the anterior border of the epistome. Interantennular septum broad. Antennules fold obliquely. Antennal flagellum usually of a good length. Third maxillipeds moderately or slightly gaping; merus without a well developed oblique hairy ridge; palp articulating at the middle of the anterior border of merus. Male abdomen rarely covering the whole space between the last pair of legs. (Guinot 1998)
