Carapace much broader than long, with the antero-lateral corners cut away and rounded off. Front narrow. Antennules folded transversely. Orbits, eyes and antennae small. Buccal cavern with the sides a little convergent anteriorly or not, nearly closed by the third maxillipeds. Merus of third maxillipeds either quadrate or with the antero-external angles rounded off. Besides the chelipeds only three pairs of ambulatory legs visible, P5 being absent. Male abdomen not nearly filling the space between the last pair of ambulatory legs. Female openings sternal.
