Carapace elongate, somewhat truncate in front. Posterior margin with one or two spines. Rostral spines extremely long and projecting forwards and divergent. Postorbital lobe absent or, if present, small and remote from eyestalks. Orbits, if complete, consisting of a supraocular eave, sometimes extremely dilated and expanded laterally, and a postocular spine. Intercalated spine lacking. Eyestalks often very long. Basal antennal article narrow or broad. (Guinot 1998)
