Genus Pleistacantha

Miers, 1879

Carapace pyriform, its surface with major spines and spinulous in between of those; rostrum composed of two slender spines, a supplementary short spine present at or near the apex of each antennulary fossa; interantennular septum with a well developed usually bifid spine at its apex ventrally. Distal margin of basal antennal article not fused to front, slightly overreaching the anterior margin of eyestalk, green (antennal) gland immediately at the proximal junction of the basal antennal article. Carpus of cheliped with many spines and tubercles. Chelipeds and ambulatory legs highly spinous. (Türkay 1995)
