Carapace not very broad and without lateral expansions. Dorsal surface uneven. Eyes and orbits very small. Anterior part of pterygostomial region ending in the circular depression behind the orbit. Third maxillipeds with the merus as long or longer than half the length of ischium measured along the inner border. Chelipeds of moderate length; palm and fingers normal; fingers slender or stout, gradually tapering; dactylus moving often in an oblique plane. (Guinot 1998)
