Genus Leptodius

A. Milne Edwards, 1863

Carapace transversely oval. Antero-lateral margins armed with four or five teeth behind the exorbital angles. Front not extending beyond the supraorbital angles. Antennular fossae narrow and elongated. Basal article of the antennae elongated. Third maxillipeds squat, with the merus broad and projecting at the antero-external angle. Fingers of the larger cheliped with strongly hollowed extremities, that are enlarged and hoof-shaped, and not crossing when they are closed. (Guinot 1998)
