The antero-lateral margins of the carapace have 4 to 5 teeth behind the exorbital angle. The carapace and chelipeds have their surfaces granular or smooth, sometimes finely punctate. There are 4 teeth behind the exorbital angle. The carapace has projecting regions that are rugose and separated by deep grooves. The first pleopod of the male has six stout, short subdistal spines and a noticeably long apical lobe with 8-10 mushroom-shaped marginal tubercles. (Serène, 1984)
