Genus Meriola

Carapace transversely ovoid, 1.5-1.6 times broader than long. Regions moderately defined. Antero-lateral margins regularly convex, divided into four teeth behind the exorbital angles, their border bluntly crested. Front moderately projecting, bilobed. Basal antennal article just touching the front; flagellum short and entering orbit. Chelipeds large and robust; fingers spooned. Ambulatory legs relatively long, all four of similar length, compressed, slender. Male abdomen with five segments. (Guinot 1998)
