Carapace transversely oval, generally much broader than long. Regions prominent or hardly indicated. Dorsal surface convex, smooth, granular or rugose. Antero-lateral margins entire or feebly dentate. Front nearly straight and feebly bilobed. Antennules folded transversely. Chelipeds subequal or slightly unequal, dissimilar in males; palm elongated; fingers elongated and dentate; fixed finger without a proximal or median tooth differentiated on cutting edge. Ambulatory legs subcylindrical, noticeably thin, sometimes slightly carinate on their anterior margins, and smooth or granular. (Guinot 1998)
