Genus Hyas

Carapace considerably longer than broad, lyrate. Hepatic lobe prominent. Dorsal surface flattened, more or less tuberculated, moderately convex, tuberculated but not spiny. No preocular spine; a large postorbital tooth, closer the eye, cupped, affording partial concealment. Rostrum bifid, flattened. Orbits shallow. Eyes partly visible from above when retracted. Basal antennal article much enlarged. Ambulatory legs of moderate length, subcylindrical. (Guinot 1998)
