Carapace circular to subcircular; exorbital angle always spiniform, antero-lateral border with more or less well developed spines; rostrum composed of two slender spines. Interantennular partition with spine at its apex ventrally, though of various length it never overreaches rostral spines. Basal antennal article distally fused to front and extending beyond level of anterior margin of eyestalk, green (antennal) gland immediately at its proximal junction. Carpus of chelipeds with spines or tubercles. Propodi of all ambulatory legs cylindrical, never conspicuously flattened. (Türkay 1995)
