Genus Psopheticoides

Carapace a little broader than long, subcircular in outline. Dorsal surface depressed. Antero-lateral margins strongly arched, cut into three cristate, lobular teeth, the anterior two being sometimes confluent. Postero-lateral margins markedly convergent backwards and concave. Frontal margin truncate, without median notch. Front about one-fourth the greatest breadth of carapace. Eyestalks short and thick. Cornea large and inflated. Antennules folded transversely. Orbits very large and deep, accommodating the large cornea; upper orbital margin strikingly sinuous. Chelipeds symmetrical and heavy. Ambulatory legs with the dactyli of P5 lanceolate. Male abdomen very narrow and elongate in outline, with all segments distinct. G1 very long and thin. G2 very short, its tip slanting. (Guinot 1998)
