Uca formosensis

Rathbun, 1921

Near Gelasimus arcuatus and also Gelasimus dussumieri, but the external orbital angles project almost anteriorly and their outer margin not at all convergent backward; the postero-lateral facet is sharply defined by a ridge above and below as in arcuatus. The front is not marked by a median groove, the upper orbital border markedly arcuate but not at all oblique, the eyestalks folded almost transversely. No network of vandyke red on the dorsal surface. The granules on the dorsal surface of wrist and outer surface of palm are very small compared with those of the two kins already referred to. Fingers are much compressed and their prehensile edge armed with a rather stout tooth near the proximal one third (or near the middle in juvenile specimens), the distal portion of the edge from this tooth forming a cutting edge; the usual longitudinal groove of both fingers is not so deeply impressed as that of arcuatus.
