Goneplax renoculis

Carapace with its sides slightly convergent posteriorly. Surface smooth. Antero-lateral border with a dentiform, sharp tooth behind the long and slender exorbital tooth. Front distinctly wider than one fourth of carapace, truncated, rather concave. Upper orbital margin strongly sinuous; lower margin with a tooth. Eye reniform, lodged in the enlarged outer half of orbit; eyestalk stout and cornea chiefly ventral, swollen. Chelipeds of moderate size, subequal and smooth; merus with a strong spine near the middle of the upper margin and with two other slender spines on the distal half of the lower outer margin. Ambulatory legs long and slender, merus with subdistal spines. (Guinot 1998)

Type locality: Malavatuan Island, off southern Luzon, Philippines, 140-180 m.
Range: Japan - Inubo-zaki, Hamana Lake, Miyazaki, Ashizuri-misaki, Kii Strait, Owase, Goto-retto, Tsushima, Nagato, off Hamada, and Kyogasaki (Yokoya, 1933), Manazuru (Sakai, 1935), Sagami Bay and Kumano-nada (Sakai, 1939), Sagami Bay (Sakai, 1965b), Sagami Bay and Tosa Bay (Sakai, 1976a), Kumano-nada (Miyake, 1983), Sagami Bay and Tsuyazaki (Muraoka, 1998); East China Sea (Takeda & Miyake, 1968c); Philippines - Malavatuan Island (Rathbun, 1914d), north of Lubang Island (Serène & Vadon, 1981); 200-300 m.
