Carcinoplax microphthalmus

Carapace rounded. Surface finely granulate. Antero-lateral border nearly smooth in large individuals, in others without exorbital tooth and with the other teeth hardly marked. Front not very produced, only sinuous. Orbits very small. Chelipeds becoming only more robust in large males; palm smooth and unarmed at the inner surface; fingers with black colouration in the distal half. Ambulatory legs subcylindrical, tomentose. Range: Japan - Kumano-nada (Takeda & Yanagisawa, 1985); Philippines - north-west of Lubang (Guinot, 1989a); New Caledonia (Guinot & Richer de Forges, 1981); 197-400 m.
