Xanthias lividus

(Lamarck, 1818)

Species of a medium size. The carapace is smooth and glabrous, the regions are rather deeply demarcated, especially, 2L, 3L and 4L are notably carinate, 5L is antero-laterally well defined. Front narrow and divided into two obtuse and oblique lobes by a very deep median sinus, each lobe is laterally well separated from the supraorbital border by a deep sinus.
Antero-lateral border bears four prominent lobes exclusive of the small external orbital angle; the first lobe is very broad and large and its obtuse tip produced almost to the level of the eyes; the second to fourth lobes are prolonged into an obtuse tooth at tip, the last one being most elongate. The inner angle of the infraorbital border is developed into a large rounded tooth similar to the antero-lateral teeth.
Chelipeds are equal; the palm is concave on inner surface and its superior border crested and divided into two lobes, its lower distal end produced into an obtuse process; the wrist has a large bifurcated tooth at inner angle, while the outer distal surface has a shallow transverse groove; the palm has a shallow broad groove on the outer surface near the superior border; the black pigment of immovable finger intrudes far behind on the under surface of the palm. Ambulatory legs are densely fringed with yellowish hairs along the anterior border. (T. Sakai, 1939: 467)
