Carapace with 2M entirely divided longitudinally into two parts, the external branch subdivided longitudinally for all of its anterior half; 3M is not divided and is in the form of a reversed T; other regions have their margins irregularly subdivided; the granules on these margins have, at their base, a horizontal fringe of rigid setae that hide the narrow and irregular furrows. Basal antennal segment fills the orbital hiatus that is normally open. Attains 18 mm carapace breadth. (Davie 1997)
Carapace transversely oval, about 1.6 times as broad as long; convex in the anterior half and depressed in the posterior half. Surface areolated by deep grooves; 2M divided into 2 longitudinal lobules, outer lobule subdivided into 2 in anterior half; 1M and 2P also separated into 2 lobules, inner lobule much greater than the outer one; 4M well demarcated. Every lobule covered with beaded granules and interspersed with short hairs. Front margin granulated, cut into 2 lobes by a V-shaped median notch. Dorsal orbital margin bearing 2 broad fissures, separated into 3 tubercles. Ventral margin entire. Antero-lateral margin composed of 4 lobes, the first and the last small, the second and third broad. Postero-lateral margin short, strongly converged backwards. Antennal basal segment touching front. Third maxillipeds with merus slightly produced sideways.
Female chelipeds symmetrical. Meruse short. Carpus and palm bearing tubercles on the surface. Fingers long, with a few carinae on the outer surface, thick spiniform hairs on the dorsal surface and teeth of various sizes on the inner margins; tip sharp. Ambulatory legs depressed, covered with short setae and granules on the surface of every joint. Carpus and propodus with tubercles, tip spiniform. Carapace length of the young female 8 mm, breadth 12.9 mm. (Dai & Yang, 1991)
