Genus Mictyris

Latreille, 1806

Carapace elongate, globose, oval but truncated posteriorly by the short and almost straight posterior border; cervical and cardio-branchial grooves well developed, and making regions distinct and convex, posterior border fringed with bristles; orbits represented by a small postocular spine, thus the eyes are quite unconcealed; front a narrow deflexed lobe. Buccal cavity enormous, and somewhat oval in outline. Third maxillipeds very large and foliaceous, with a hemispherical bulge causing them to face as much laterally as ventrally; ischium much larger than merus; exopodite small and very inconspicuous. Chelipeds moderately long and rather slender, carpus rather short. Ambulatory legs somewhat compressed. (Türkay 1995)
