Genus Sakaina

Small symbiotic crabs, usually living as commensals. Carapace much broader than long, calcified. Dorsal surface with regions poorly defined. Anterior margin nearly straight; antero-lateral margins rounded. Postero-lateral margins convergent posteriorly. Front deflexed. Orbits nearly circular. Antennular fossae communicating with each other. Buccal cavern short and markedly subtriangular. Third maxillipeds with ischium and merus indistinguishably fused and subtriangular; palp small, with three articles; dactylus inserted at the tip of the propodus. Ambulatory legs successively diminishing in length from P2 to P5; P5 always very small. Male abdomen with the third segment the widest; telson very long and subquadrangular, its rounded, truncate or incised extremity reaching the buccal cavity. (Guinot 1998)
