Deiratonotus japonicus

(Sakai, 1934)

Carapace transversely hexagonal, dorsal surface covered with fine frosted granules, uneven through sulci on hepatic and branchial regions, but not traversed by transversal ridges; regions generally well delimited. Frontal margin somewhat broader than orbit, clearly bilobate; upper orbital border slightly sinuate, transverse; external orbital angle triangular and projecting forwards; lateral borders with two indistinct lobules behind external orbital angle. Meri of ambulatory legs rather slender, their dorsal surfaces without any ridges. (Türkay 1995)

Type locality: Kagoshima, Japan.
Range: Japan - Kagoshima (Sakai, 1934a), Shimoda (Sakai, 1935), Shimoda and Kagoshima (Sakai, 1939), Sagami Bay (Sakai, 1965b), Kagoshima, Sagami Bay and Izu Shimoda (Sakai, 1976a), Nanki Tomida-gawa (Miyake, 1983).
