Carapace with anterior margin almost straight; front narrow, narrowest between eyestalk bases, frontal groove absent or nearly so; antero-lateral margins short but distinct, finely serrate or beaded, exorbital tooth little produced, acute; suborbital crenellations low but separate and truncate, no tubercles on floor of orbit. Palm of major cheliped with inner face either finely granulate or covered with flat tubercles; outer face of immovable finger with longitudinal furrow, another short furrow can be present proximally below the first one; dactylus with two long and distinct longitudinal furrows; gape of female chelae almost always with a pair of enlarged teeth. Horny terminal endpiece of male first pleopod with anterior flange large, posterior ridge small; palp short, distal. (Türkay 1995)
