Utica borneensis

Carapace subquadrate, depressed and smooth, with short setae near the margins. Postfrontal margin with a pair of crests, an H-shaped fine groove between the gastric and cardiac regions, the metabranchial region with an oblique ridge forming a facet, and densely furnished with short setae. Frontal margin straight, slightly concave medially. Dorsal orbital border slightly arched medially. Antero-lateral margin with 3 teeth including the outerorbital tooth; the first tooth triangular, its distal end directed forwards; the second tooth broader, the third tooth small. Postero-lateral margin slightly divergent backwards. Posterior margin nearly straight. Exopodite of the third maxilliped broader; merus with antero-external angle projected, blunt; ischium elongately quadrate.
Chelipeds of the male stout. Merus trigonal, dorsal margin granulated, its outer surface with striae, the ventral inner margin with long hairs. Fingers gaping at the basal two-thirds. The immovable finger with a stout tooth at the distal two-thirds; the movable finger with a stout tooth at the middle. Ambulatory legs slender, each segment densely fringed with long hairs on the anterior and posterior borders.
First pleopod of the male stout, its distal end with a bluntly truncated process. Abdomen narrowly elongate; telson bluntly triangular. Carapace length of the male 10.5 mm, breadth 11.5 mm. (Dai & Yang, 1991)

Type locality: Pontianak, Borneo.
