Opecarcinus crescentus

Carapace moderately depressed and covered with conical granules, which are smaller in its posterior part; gastric region delimited anteriorly by two depressions, pointing obliquely backwards and reaching lateral border, by this the hepatic region is separated from the branchial one, gastric, branchial, cardiac, and intestinal regions not distinct from each other; front weakly concave and fringed with spinules and setae, a low median projection present; internal orbital angle spine-topped; external orbital angle angular, hardly behind internal orbital one, antero-lateral borders behind it granulate. Chelipeds homochelous, not stout, upper border of palm longer than its height and also longer than dactyl, inner distal end of merus of second pereiopods prominently protruding inwards. Range: Japan - Sagami Bay and Yaeyama-retto (Takeda & Tamura, 1981c), Kushimoto, Wakayama Prefecture (Takeda & Tamura, 1983); Vietnam - Nha Trang (Fize & Serène, 1957); Indonesia - Sumatra and Moluccas (Serène, 1966); Hawaiian Islands - Pukoo, Molokai (Edmondson, 1933), Johnston Island (Edmondson, 1925); Kiritimati (Edmondson, 1933); Clipperton Island; Baja California.
