Pinnotheres pholadis

de Haan, 1835

Carapace very slightly broader than long, almost circular in outline and the dorsal surface extremely convex in the middle portion. The front is well produced and its free margin marked with a shallow median sinus; the eyes are large. The dactylus of the external maxillipeds is much exceeding the tip of the propodus.
The ambulatory legs are much elongate and cylindrical. The second and third pairs are subequal; the first pair a little shorter but the last pair extremely small. In the second and third pairs, the merus is fringed with feathered hairs along the posterior border and along the proximal half of the anterior border, the carpus is fringed with the same hairs along the posterior border and also crossed by an oblique row of such hairs from the proximal end of the anterior border to the posterior distal portion; the propodus is fringed with the same hairs along the anterior and posterior borders. In the last pair, the hairs occur only along anterior border of merus and both borders of carpus and propodus. (T. Sakai, 1939: 590)
