Carapace squarish, slightly broader than long; surface convex and smooth, covered with microscopical granules and pits, marked with numerous red spots of various sizes in the anterior half; regions well defined, mesobranchial areas with a pair of obscure ridges. Frontal margin straight, cut into 2 lobes by a shallow median notch. Orbit large, inner supraorbital angle acutely triangular and outerorbital angle obtusely triangular; infraorbital margin well defined by a raised rim, which is armed with many granular prominences. Antero-lateral margin of carapace composed of 3 teeth, including the outer tooth of the orbit: the first 2 broad, rounded and well separated from the third one, which is positioned slightly more dorsally and is very acute. Antennal basal segment covered with granules on the surface, outer-distal angle touching with the inner supra- and infraorbital teeth, flagellum standing out of the orbit. Merus of the third maxillipeds concave on its anterior margin, with the outer-distal angle bluntly rounded and slightly produced.
Chelipeds slightly asymmetrical, the right one more massive. Merus with a granular prominence and a subdistal spine on its dorsal margin; ventral margin and the inner surface granulated. Carpus with a stout coniform tooth at its inner-distal angle and with a patch of hairs along the anterior margin and the outer-distal angle. Palm smooth and rounded dorsally, with a patch of hairs on the dorsal proximal angle, but corrugate ventrally. Finger stout, with stout teeth along the inner margins, tips sharp. Ambulatory legs elongate; merus corrugate on the dorsal and ventral surface; dactylus long, lanceolate; propodus of the last pair of the ambulatory legs about 3.9 times as long as broad.
First pleopod of the male curved, with distal portion narrowed distally and armed with spinules; apex slightly expanded. Male abdomen 7-segmented, both side of the first to third segments touching with coxae of the last legs; the sixth segment straight in proximal half of the lateral margin, but distal half arched; telson coniform, longer than the sixth one. Female abdomen triangular; telson about 1.07 times as long as basal margin. Carapace length of the male 18 mm, breadth 21.6 mm; of the female, length 18.5 mm, breadth 21.8 mm. (Dai & Yang, 1991)
