Charybdis acuta

Carapace covered with a dense short tomentum; transverse granular lines on frontal (very indistinct), protogastric and mesogastric regions, epibranchial line interrupted at the cervical groove and across midline; front with 6 acute triangular teeth with dark tips, medians the most prominent; antero-lateral borders with 6 teeth, first smallest with slightly concave lateral border, acute at tip, third largest, sixth acute, directed antero-laterally; postero-lateral junctions rounded. Antennal flagellum excluded from orbit. Chelipeds quite hairy; merus with 3 strong spines on anterior border, posterior border smooth; carpus with a strong internal spine, outer border with 3 spinules; palm with 5 spines on upper border. Merus of swimming leg with a subdistal posterior spine, propodus with a row of spinules on posterior border. (Türkay 1995)

Antennal flagellum excluded from orbital hiatus; frontal teeth very acute; posterior border of cephalothorax curved, forming curved postero-lateral junction; 6 antero-lateral teeth, first antero-lateral tooth not truncate, second antero-lateral tooth about as large as first; no distinct cardiac ridges on carapace; carpus of fifth leg without a spine.
