Orithyia sinica

(Linnaeus, 1771)

Carapace rounded, slightly longer than broad, convex. Dorsal surface with regions well defined and covered with granules, more prominent in the anterior and median regions; large tubercles distributed in the center of each area. Branchial region with a large mammillary coloured spot. Front with three teeth, the rostrum being more projected. Orbit concave, its dorsal border granulated and with two teeth. Exorbital tooth strong. Antero-lateral margin with two granulated tubercles. Postero-lateral margin with two spines. Chelipeds asymmetrical. P2-P4 dactyli narrow and elongate. P5 dactylus flattened, ovate, paddle-like. (Guinot 1998)

Type locality: probably China.
Range: China - Hong Kong (Shen, 1931), Liaodong Peninsula, Liaodong Bay, Bo Hai Gulf, and Shandong Peninsula (Shen, 1932), Bo Hai Gulf (Sakai, 1937a, 1976), Ningbo, Haimen, Fuzhou, and Xiamen (Shen, 1940b), Guangdong, Fujian, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong Peninsula, Bo Hai Bay, Liaodong Peninsula, and Liaodong Bay (Dai & Yang, 1991), Yingkou (Muraoka, 1998); Korea - Heian-hokudo, Heian-nando, Kokai-do and Chusei-nando (Kamita, 1941b), Deogjeog Island and Bieung Island (Kim, 1973), near Seoul (Sakai, 1976a); shallow waters.
