Genus Typhlocarcinops

Rathbun, 1909

Carapace much broader than long. Postero-lateral margins mostly parallel. Eyes sometimes pigmented, but faint and obsolete in most cases. Antennules completely fitting into the fossae beneath the front, the flagellum being completely retracted. Basal antennal article short, the flagellum standing in the orbital hiatus. Epistome of good length, with the posterior margin prominent and distinct. Outer angle of the merus of third maxillipeds not produced. First segment of male abdomen extremely broadened, entirely covering the whole breadth between the last pairs of legs. (Guinot 1998)
