Genus Lydia

Gistel, 1848

Carapace broad, transversely oblate-oval. Dorsal surface with regions quite well marked on anterior half. Antero-lateral margins divided into five acuminate teeth, of which the last one is obscure. Fronto-orbital breadth narrow. Front cut into four equidistant lobes. Antennae with flagellum completely excluded from the orbital hiatus, which is entirely closed. Orbits circular. Supra and infraorbital edges intimately in contact with each other. Chelipeds markedly unequal; outer surface of palm granular and studded with large pustulous granules; fingers pointed; fingers of smaller cheliped rather long and slender. Ambulatory legs stout.
