Genus Heteropanope

Stimpson, 1858

Carapace broader than long. Dorsal surface rather convex fore and aft, more or less smooth, with the regions poorly defined. Antero-lateral margins with four teeth or lobes, sometimes pointed but never spinous. Front broadly bilobed, each lobe being not convex and without lateral lobules. Antennules folding transversely into the fossae. Chelipeds unequal, robust. Ambulatory legs of moderate length, unarmed. Male abdomen with all segments distinct. Thoracic sternum with the sternite 8 never laterally visible beside the male abdomen. G1 pilumnid, sinuous. G2 sigmoid. (Guinot 1998)
