Genus Calmania

Carapace only a little broader than long, more or less subquadrate in outline. Presence of a transverse row of hairs on the frontal border or just above its free edge. Antero-lateral margins crest-like or not crested, with three angles or teeth. Front very produced, bilobed. Eyes well visible dorsally. Third maxillipeds completely closing the buccal cavity; merus distinctly broader than long, its antero-lateral angle expanded. Chelipeds subequal, with setae; palm high, its outer surface with rows of granules; fingers sharp-pointed. Ambulatory legs pubescent. Male abdomen with all segment distinct. G1 recurved, of pilumnid type; G2 short, sigmoid. (Guinot 1998)
