Genus Halimede

Carapace moderately broad, subpentagonal. Dorsal surface distinctly convex, areolated, marked with tubercles, either isolated and flat or ill-isolated and rounded. Antero-lateral margins longer than the postero-lateral, with teeth either with flat surface or angular. Antennules fold obliquely. Basal article of antennae not nearly reaching the front. Front narrow, prominent, sublaminar or hood-like, square cut, lobed. Chelipeds unequal; outer surface with pustulous tubercles. Ambulatory legs with the upper border of merus serrate or spinulous. Thoracic sternum relatively narrow. Male abdomen with all segments distinct; telson very elongated, more than twice as long as any of the others. G1 slender but not curved. G2 short. (Guinot 1998)
