Dorsal surface of the carapace usually smooth or finely granular; regions not or poorly defined. Combined breadth of front and supraorbital angles distinctly less than half that of the carapace. Basal antennal article without a prolonged antero-lateral external angle, thus orbital hiatus fully open. Antennal flagellum directed backwards freely into the orbital hiatus. (Guinot 1998)
