Carapace subcircular or subrhomboidal to hexagonal in outline. Dorsal surface extremely convex, perfectly smooth, with none of the regions, except sometimes hepatic, defined. Frontal region narrowed and produced anteriorly. Buccal cavern elongate and triangular. Third maxillipeds with the merus acutely triangular. Chelipeds symmetrical and, relatively to the ambulatory legs, very massive; merus with margins and surface ornamented with large polished pearly granules. Ambulatory legs small. (Guinot 1998)
