Carapace subquadrate, slightly broader than long, convex, evenly covered with scattered short setae. Front slightly deflected, with a broad groove medially, divided into 2 lobes. Dorsal orbital border slightly convex at the middle. Antero-lateral margin quadridentate; the first tooth acutely triangular, slightly inward-curved; the second small and acute; the third very small; the last only an impression. Infraorbital crest of the male high and flattened in the middle, tapering regularly to either end; continuous, divided by narrow vertical grooves into 50-60 sections. In the female, with 32-55 granules.
Chelipeds larger in the male than in the female. Merus with a musical crest on the distal portion of its ventral inner border. Palm high, smooth, dorsal margin cristate. Ambulatory legs slender; propodus and carpus of the first legs with short pubescence on the ventral surface.
First pleopod of the male with a subdistal inner lobe, the distal chitinous process bent dorsally downwards. Abdomen of the male triangular. Distal half of the lateral border of the sixth segment convergent; telson fringed with a transverse row of hairs. In the female, the telson rounded and large; it is inserted into the sixth segment. Carapace length of the male 28.5 mm, breadth 33 mm; of the female, length 27 mm, breadth 33.2 mm. (Dai & Yang, 1991)

Range: China - (Parisi, 1918, Sakai K. & Yatsuzuka, 1980), Hainan (Rathbun, 1931), Wenzhou, Zhejiang (Shen, 1940b), Fuzhou and Hainan (Sakai K. & Yatsuzuka, 1980), Hainan Island, Guangdong, Fujian and Zhejiang (Dai & Yang, 1991).
