Eriocheir rectus

Carapace rounded quadrate, more even and flat, pitted. Front indistinctly 2-lobed, with a Y-shaped groove medially. Cervical groove conspicuous. Gastro-cardiac and cardiac-intestinal regions each separated by H-shaped grooves. Dorsal orbital border with a suture. Antero-lateral margin with 4 teeth including the outerorbital tooth, the last one very rudimentary. Postero-lateral margins subparallel. Posterior margin nearly straight. Merus of the third maxillipeds with straight inner border, the basal one-third of the outer margin strongly produced.
Chelipeds stout. Carapace with an oblique row of granules on its dorsal surface, and a sharp spine on the inner-distal angle, the distal margin densely fringed with tomentum. Palm thickly furnished with hairs on its outer surface which extend to the basal half of the two fingers, inner surface smooth. Inner borders of the two fingers with triangular teeth; tips shaped like broad shallow spoons. Ambulatory legs stout; merus with a row of long hairs on its anterior border, posterior border smooth; propodus and dactylus of the last leg distinctly broadened.
First pleopod of the male stout and straight, distal part rounded. Abdomen elongate triangular; telson rounded distally. Carapace length of the male 47.3 mm, breadth 50 mm; of the female, length 45.5 mm, breadth 48 mm. (Dai & Yang, 1991)

Type locality: Macao, China.
Range: Japan - Yaeyama-retto (Sakai, 1976a); Taiwan - Mukuashi (Sakai, 1938c, 1939), Mukuashi and Chihpun (Lin, 1949); China - Macao (Stimpson, 1858b, 1907), Guangdong (Dai & Yang, 1991).
