Sakaina koreensis

Kim & Sakai, 1972

The carapace is transversely oblong and the dorsal surface vaulted fore and aft; the anterior and posterior portions of the carapace being deflexed downwards. The breadth of the carapace is more than 1.8 times its length. The front protrudes slightly beyond the level of the eyes and its anterior edge bilobate. The surface beneath the anterior margin of each lobe is slightly concave. Just behind the frontal lobes, the anterior surface of the carapace is defined by a rim of pubescence, the inner edge of each rim reaches to the median frontal notch, where a tiny triangular area is formed.
The anterior half of the antero-lateral border of carapace is evenly rounded, with a thick rim of marginal pubescence, which does not reach to the external orbital angle and extends posteriorly towards the junction of the antero-lateral and postero-lateral borders. The dorsal surface of carapace is smooth and glabrous. The cardiac region is very slightly elevated. The posterior margin of carapace is straight and very broad, its breadth is more than half that of the carapace.
The chelipeds are symmetrical, the merus is small and pubescent, and the carpus swollen with its upper inner angle very slightly produced and pubescent. The propodus is swollen and its upper inner edge provided with four granules; the prehensile edges of the fingers are armed with eight denticles.
The first and second ambulatory legs are subequal in length and thickness, and mostly pubescent; the third pair is smaller and more slender and also pubescent. The last pair is very small. The merus of the first ambulatory legs is almost triangular in cross section, but its anterior surface concave; the posterior surface almost flattened and the lower surface slightly convex. In second to fourth ambulatory legs, the merus is somewhat depressed. The dactylus of each leg is strongly curved inward, with its tip sharp and black-coloured.
The abdomen of female is seven-segmented and widest at the third segment, behind which the lateral margins of the 4th to 6th segments are distally convergent. The terminal segment is rounded at tip. (Sakai, 1976)
