Glabropilumnus dispar

(Dana, 1852)

The carapace is weakly arched antero-posteriorly, entirely naked and glabrous; the surface bears only a crescent shallow depression along each supraorbital border. The front is one-third as wide as the carapace, declivous and nearly truncated; each frontal lobe bears no lateral lobule and rather distinctly separated from the supraorbital angle. The antero-lateral border is provided with three low teeth; each tooth bears the tip anteriorly; the first tooth is placed at some distance behind the external orbital angle which is not at all produced; the hindmost is less prominent than the preceeding.
The chelipeds are heavy and distinctly unequal in both sexes. Each carpus is smooth, glossy and armed with a stout tooth at its inner angle and with a supplementary one below the main tooth. The larger palm is also entirely smooth and glossy without any granules and with very scant short hairs; the smaller palm bears low conical granules and very scant short hairs on the proximal portion. The ambulatory legs are fringed with rather sparse hairs. The upper border of each merus of the first three pairs is slightly roughened by some indistinct granules.
The colour in life is entirely brick red except for the black fingers; those black pigments of the fingers fail to reach the proximal portion of the fingers. (Takeda & Miyake, 1969c)
